Go for the Gutsy!

almost because I came to the realization long ago that you need the right tool for the job, and linux doesn’t always do it. About a year and a half ago, I started using Ubuntu Linux as my distribution of choice. I started with Hoary Hedgehog (5.04) in exploratory usage. At that time, I was still very much a Macophile. But after Breezy Badger (5.10) came out, I started looking more seriously at it. In fact, I believe it was Breezy that I initially installed on my work box and gradually moved over to from the mac. By the time Dapper Drake (6.06) came out, I was using linux full-time at work. I upgraded to Edgy Eft (6.10) about two weeks before it came out, and then again with Feisty Fawn (7.04). For the last two or three weeks, I’d been using Gutsy Gibbon on various machines, and I finished all my machines over to it full-time last week. Gutsy is teh shiznit. I’m *extremely* impressed with it. It’s fast, stable, and pleasant to use. The inclusion Compiz-Fusion as the default window manager for GNOME is nice to look at and with the OpenGL accelleration, very fast. If you have a fairly modern machine and want to give desktop linux a try, I highly recommend it. The link on my sidebar to the right has more information, and a countdown to the official release of Gutsy Gibbon. And if you’d like to visit the Ubuntu website, use this link. That’s all for now. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>
