It's been a long time…

work!!! Who’da thunkit? So that’s a good thing. The other nifty thing is that I’m the current deployee of a Gateway Solo 3300 laptop. No, it doesn’t have our chip in it, but it’s faster than my personal laptop. (not to mention smaller, lighter, and more modern.) Don’t get me wrong – I love my OWN laptop, but this is a fun thing to be able to play around with. Oh, yeah, the reason I have it (for now) is so that I have something to check in with while I’m in Florida over the next week. We’ll see if I get to keep it much longer than that. I’m already in the process of installing it and getting it running the way I want it to. I’m afraid that I’m going to have to make it dual boot though. It’s got a crummy winmodem in it and I haven’t gotten that working yet. Remember boys and girls – Winmodems are NOT modems! 😉 So what’s this trip to Florida I’m taking? Well, my grandmother isn’t getting any younger. She’s pushing the late 90’s and this may be the last time I get to see her. I’m going with my dad over the Father’s Day weekend, so this will be very special for me, and probably very interesting for him — his dad died about 5 or 6 years ago. I’m sure he’s still not too used to not being able to call his dad on Father’s Day. I’m very much looking forward to spending time with the both of them. One last note before I close up shop for the evening – it looks like the New Zealand trip is going to happen after all! Still haven’t decided exactly how long I’ll be gone, but it looks like I’ll prolly leave on the 15th of August and return on the 2nd or 3rd of September. These details will still need to be worked out. I think it would be ironic for me to be arriving back in the US on the 29th of August – the anniversary date of my arrival in the USA back in ’79. I’d like to be “dan unda” on that day. We’ll see what happens. Okay, that’s it for me for tonight. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>
