Hooray for Caffeine Withdrawals… NOT!

eat the snacks. Sounds like a win-win situation in most cases. Did I mention I work the swing shift? No gyms are open after I get off work at 1:00am. So I’ve been drinking a LOT of soda and eating a LOT of junk food. In short, I gained all the weight I’d lost, and found more. Well, I’ve decided that approaching my 37th year I’d do something about it. Over the last several days, I’ve been consciously reducing my soda (and snack) intake. I’m hoping to be fully weaned off caffeine by Sunday. The day I finally kick the caffeine habit, I go back on the Neanderthin or Paleo diet. (See here and here for more information.) It’s a fairly simple diet, eating simple foods and staying away from pretty much anything mass-produced. Last time I was on this diet, I lost about 20 pounds in the first two months on diet alone. Over the next three months, I lost another 10-15 lbs with diet and exercise. I was also caffeine free during this time. In the five months I was on the diet, I felt GREAT and was starting to look great too. I went from a 44″ waist to about 39″ (couldn’t quite fit into my 38″ waist pants yet), and my health was great! My blood pressure was FANTASTIC. I want to get back into this. I know this diet works for me, and frankly, I like it. All the foods they encourage you to eat are just fine with me, and I didn’t really miss the stuff they recommend you cut out. The hard part is actually *getting started* on this diet. So that’s where Sunday comes in. Hopefully Sunday will be the last day of caffeine withdrawals (did I mention that they suck?), and I’ll start cooking my own food again. I’ve been on the freezer diet for quite a while, and while it’s convenient, it’s not the healthiest. It’s not always easier to go paleo, but I’m sure that it’ll eventually be much much cheaper. And DON’T confuse this decision with a New Year’s resolution. For the turn of the century, I resolved to never make New Year’s Resolutions again. I’ve not made one since, and I’m doing pretty good. This is just a need and a desire to have a more healthy lifestyle. That’s all for now. I’m sure I’ll add more about this later, but for now I’ll stop here. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>
