  1. You can also just send it registered. You’ll get a receipt and tracking code for it. Certified means they stamp the hell out of it to prove it hasn’t been tampered with. The downside is the “certified” letter I sent a few weeks back cost $11 to send ($9.45 for certified plus tracking plus postage) where I think registered is a buck or two.

  2. I didn’t file last year. Not elegible for efile.
    I will file last year’s taxes soon. (I didn’t owe, so it’s not as bad as would normally be)

    We e-filed at about 8:00 a.m. Tuesday the 15th. Some time during the afternoon of Thursday the 17th the IRS sucked the $1200 we owed them out of our bank account.
    Want to bet refunds don’t get actioned that fast?

  4. Yeah, I ended up sending certified with return receipts. Total cost was about $20, but that included the book of stamps I bought too.
    I haven’t had any deposits to my account yet, but I’m hoping I get my $1500 in refunds sometime before my trip to San Diego in May. 🙂
