Orange Box

Valve‘s The Orange Box on friday. For the first time in a long time, I spent more time NOT playing WoW than I did playing it. My co-worker kept me up VERY late Friday night (*cough*saturdaymorning*cough*) playing Team Fortress 2. Cartooney, but a whole lot of fun. I got fragged more times than I can count. This game rocks. If you like deathmatch play, this game is for you. The cartoony grafix are quite cool. Definitely reminds the user that we’re *not* in the real world, which IMHO is a good thing. The voice chat in that game is just as good as (if not better than) Ventrilo or Teamspeak. I was very impressed. I spent most of the rest of the weekend playing Portal. If you haven’t heard or seen anything about the game, I highly recommend picking a copy up and playing it. It’s short – only 19 levels in the game proper – but you can expect to spend quite a bit of time playing each of the last five levels. I got stuck for quite some time on level 17 and 18. Level 19 was pretty self-explanatory after doing the first 18 levels. 🙂 The only problems I had were probably hardware related (I couldn’t install XP on the new system I got, so I was stuck with Vista) – the games were crash happy under vista. Other than that, I found myself longing to play more of the new games than WoW over the course of the weekend. All in all, I have to give this product a definite thumbs-up.]]>

  1. I haven’t spent much time playing Portal but I really like Team Fortress 2. Made me stop playing WoW too. We have set up a server with co-location from Nationwidebandwidth.com(that’s the name of the sever too) 67.90.47.47, so I usually play on this server.

  2. Thanks for the tip. Sorry it took me so long to approve the comment – I wasn’t sure if it was real or spam. *blush* But I’ll take a look for that server. Currently I do most of my playing on the warriornation clan server. Them WNx folks are pretty decent.
