retrospect as a backup solution. I have to constantly reboot the server if I want the backups to run. Lately, if I try to run the “tape dump” script that transfers all my backups from the 1.5tb RAID array to the LTO-3 autoloader, it hangs. If I stop that script and try to run the normal backups after that, it hangs. I’ve started calling the software RetroSUCK because it’s really sucking all my will to live. I think I’ll have to give NetBackup a shot. Yeah, we’ve spent about $1k on the backup system software we’re using now (Retrospect), but if it’s not working reliably, what else can I do? I’ve tried going down the Retrospect support path – it SUCKS horribly. They never did resolve my issue, and after a while, they just stopped responding to me. Their product is good for individual clients, but their server solution sucks. Anyway… My day’s not going so hot, I’m in a cranky mood.
