Drums

sticks and a practice pad at my friendly neighborhood Starving Musician store today. I’ve been doing the drumming thing with my fingers for quite a while now and decided about a month and a half ago that I really needed to get a pair of sticks and my practice pad and start practicing again. The problem was that I vaguely recall tossing out my practice pad and stick bag when I moved from Concord to Santa Clara. I hadn’t used any of the sticks or mallets in my bag or my pad for years, so why keep them, huh? <sigh> So I got a pair of nice heavy sticks to work the chops with, and a pad that gives great audio feedback and got to work. After ten or so years without playing any beats at all I can firmly say that I suck. Badly. I am so out of practice. Hence the purchase today. Eventually I’d like to get myself a new kit and start jamming around with my friends. They’ve got a LOT of used kits in EXCELLENT contition in there (Starving Musician). Ideally, I’d like to get a set of the Remo V-Drums, (can’t find the URL for those. Sorry.) a good rack, and a decent "brain" to practice on. The digital kit would be good to play on ‘cuz I wouldn’t need to bug the neighbors with my incessant pounding and noise-making; I’d just listen to the output through a good set of headphones. An added bonus is that if I wanted to jam with some friends, I can just play out through their PA. Of course, if my bro Chris and I decide to do something, I can just plug into his system and record straight to his mac. Yay to the digital age. One of these days, I’ll have a house to put all this crap in, too. Anyhow… I was just floating down memory lane and thought I should post something here. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>

  1. Sweet, dude! I was wondering if you would ever play again…
Keep it up, yo – we can start a Rush cover band (Chris definitely has the hair….).

  2. hehehe. Yeah, but it’d have a Metallica flair. Chris is definitely a Metallica kind of guy. Hmmm… A Metallica-sounding cover of Tom Sawyer… Oh that would be sweet.

  3. Jeeeeeeez . . . I’m =glad= you aren’t still at home!!!!! 🙂 (Do you know this thing won’t accept the grin sign?! [Two chevrons with a capital G between])
