/home failure

badblocks program on it to check for errors. It’s going to take a while. There’s widespread corruption on this filesystem and I fear it’ll spread to the rest of the disk. *sob* *cry* When badblocks has finished, I’m going to copy what I can onto my fileserver and permanently unmount the disk. Then I’m going to not boot into linux for a while, to save the stress on the drive until I can get a replacement. I’m afraid that this may take a while, but if it means saving what precious data I can, then it’ll be worth it. *wail* *moan* At least I still have several other computers in the house that are working well. I won’t go crazy without my ‘net. AND, I’ve already managed to save my mail directory. Anyhow… With that, I’m outta here. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!]]>

  1. Dood. I’ve got an “iffy” 80-gigger you’re welcome to.
It’s a solid drive, but under Windows it didn’t like being slaved to any other devices – it would just disappear. As a boot drive, or as a single IDE device, it never had any problems. Let me know if you want to give it a try.

  2. I have lots of dead 400-500 MB drives if you want ’em. 🙂 Yeah, it sucked when my /home died on my firewall. I still have to get a raid setup going on that thing…
