Long Time

John. I really haven’t had any news worthy of reporting… My car is still in the shop (anybody got a spare grand they can loan me?), I still haven’t found a job, and I’m still broke. On the plus side, I do get Unemployment benefits, I do have a cupboard & fridge full of food, and I still have a roof over my head, DSL, and Cable TV. 🙂 On a different note, I’ve been doing a LOT of reading lately. I finished the "Pegasus" series by Anne McCaffrey and am now reading the "Talent" series (the follow-up to the pegasus series). Tomorrow I buy my copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been waiting for this book to come out for the last two years. I just hope it’s as awesome as the first four books. Not sure if I’m gonna re-read the entire series, or just pick up the new book and read it on its own. We shall see. You can bet your ass I’ll post my thoughts about it here. Also, I’ve come across the new Metallica album, St. Anger. My first thoughts on this CD were, "Wow, this album is SUCKtacular! It’s their worst effort EVER!" Unfortunately, it’s been growing on me. I may have ripped the CD from a friend, but I do expect that I’ll be buying it soon. Sometime after I’ve retrieved my car from the Mechanic. <sigh> So that’s it from me for now. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>

  1. I think things like your car is what saving accounts are for. Do you have savings? If not, where does all your money go, man?

  2. I never got a savings account started when I was at ASL man. I got caught up on bills, then I started improving my habit — err, computer…
And I didn’t have time to start a savings account at Google. <sigh>

  3. Yeah, I agree it’s about time. Reading or not you can take time to keep in touch.
I have found a cure for the battery problem in my 600e. Just cover the two center terminals on the battery and it will last for two solid hours. Have not tried that as a one time run but in several sessions that add up to the total.
I posted my views on a forum about this and it was confirmed there. Seems to me that the problem is in the chip in the battery that communicates with the processor… giving false signals on true charge conditions perhaps.
Anyway, glad to see you active. Judy is in Michigan so I am batching it and having fun doing Mac things. Tim gave me his old PowerMac 8100. A real dinosaur but since I’ve never had a Mac it is an experience. Well, as experiences go it may not be the best I’ve ever experienced but hey, I’m gettingold and can’t be too choosey can I?

  4. Yeah, Powermacs are cool. You may not be able to run OSX on it, but you CAN run linux on it! Yellow Dog or MkLinux should do nicely. Hell, even Debian would work. But you might want to find a copy from CheapBytes or something like that – they’re cheap. 😉
